Recent Advances in Thrust Areas of Physics

A one-day workshop on "Recent Advances in Thrust Areas of Physics" was organized by the Science Department, God & Science club, and Science Galaxy at DAV Centenary College, Faridabad, sponsored by Haryana State Council of Science Innovation and Technology, Haryana. The keynote speakers in this workshop were Professor Dinesh Kumar Sharma, Head of Physics, Manav Rachna University, Faridabad; Dr. Aditya Sharma, Assistant Professor, and Ph.D. Coordinator, Manav Rachna University, Faridabad, and Dr. Ananna Bardhan, Assistant Professor, Manav Rachna University, Faridabad. Professor Dinesh Kumar Sharma explained in very simple words the phenomena occurring in the atmosphere, like earthquakes, lightning, and cloud formation. Professor Sharma described the usefulness of satellites in daily life as well as the importance of changes in the lifestyle of children. Dr. Aditya described the new experiments being done in physics and the progress being made by them. Dr. Ananya Bardhan said that science is not easy to understand without experiments, so in a hands-on session, she taught the students to practically work on two models: the "NRLMSIS Atmosphere Model" and the "IRI Model" by computer. Dr. Savita Bhagat explained the importance of science to the students and motivated them to do different types of experiments together. The Dean, Dr. Priya Kapoor, expressed gratitude to the chief guest and assured him of organizing such workshops from time to time. The program was conducted by Dr. Rajkumari and Ms. Pooja Sharma along with all the staff members of the Science department in their presence. 102 students from DAV Centenary College and 10 students from Manav Rachna University participated in the workshop.
