World No Tobacco Day @DAVCC

On the eve of World No Tobacco Day, DAV Centenary College, Faridabad organized a special awareness programme under the joint auspices of the Department of Economics, Youth Red Cross Unit, and Anti-Tobacco Cell. As part of the event, an online e-quiz competition was conducted, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members across the globe. More than 200 participants took part in the competition. The participation was not only from various parts of India but also from countries like Canada and Australia. This international engagement proved to be a commendable step towards spreading global awareness on the critical issue of tobacco prevention. The primary objective of the programme was to educate youth about the harmful effects of tobacco consumption and to encourage them to adopt a healthy, empowered, and tobacco-free lifestyle. On this occasion, Dr. Narender Kumar, Officiating Principal of the college, stated, “The enthusiastic participation of students and faculty members in this event on World No Tobacco Day reflects the growing health consciousness in society. Tobacco is a silent killer that not only harms the human body but also weakens the social fabric. DAV Centenary College has always been at the forefront of the 'Drug-Free India' campaign, and our efforts in this direction will continue with full dedication.” The programme was successfully coordinated by Dr. Suman Taneja (Head, Department of Economics), Dr. Sarika Saini (Co-convener, Anti-Tobacco Cell), and Mr. Dinesh Kumar (Convener, Youth Red Cross Unit). Dr. Anjusha Srivastava and Mr. Dharmveer served as the organizing secretaries and meticulously planned and executed the entire event.
