World Environment Day celebrated at DAV Centenary College, Faridabad

On the occasion of World Environment Day, a grand Poster Making and Short Film/Documentary competition was organized on June 5, 2025, at DAV Centenary College, Faridabad. The event witnessed participation from more than 25 students representing esteemed institutions such as Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru College, Aggarwal College, Ballabhgarh, and J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology. This competition was jointly organized by the B.Voc Retail and Department of Economics. On this occasion, the Officiating Principal, Dr. Narendra Kumar, addressed the students and emphasized the importance of environmental conservation. In his address, he specifically highlighted the issues concerning the Aravalli Hills, stating that rampant mining, urbanization, and deforestation have placed the region’s ecosystem under severe threat. He urged the youth to become not only environmentally sensitive but also active agents in spreading awareness across society. The entries were judged by a panel comprising Dr. Rajkumari, Ms. Meenakshi Kaushik, and Dr. Imrana Khan, who evaluated the submissions based on creativity, relevance, and the strength of the social message conveyed. Dr. Suman Taneja and Ms. Rajni Tuteja played key roles as the convenors of the event, while Dr. Anjusha Srivastava and Mr. Dharmveer successfully executed the event as organizing secretaries. Dr. Sonia Narula was also present on the occasion and praised the students for their remarkable creativity. The creativity displayed by the participants was highly appreciated by all dignitaries and judges. In the Poster Making Competition, the First Prize was awarded to Chitrakshi Bhatia (Manav Rachna University), the Second Prize to Anurag Mishra (Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru College), and the Third Prize to Piyush (Aggarwal College). In the Short Film/Documentary Competition, the First Prize was won by Mandeep, Prince (Aggarwal College), and the Second Prize went to Adhip (Nehru College). At the end of the event, the participants also took part in a tree plantation drive, reflecting their commitment and positive outlook towards environmental sustainability. The program concluded with a collective call for consistent and united efforts towards protecting and preserving the environment.
