History of Constitutional Development in India
20th Aug, 2024: An extension lecture on 'History of Constitutional Development in India' was organized by the History Department at DAV Centenary College. The main objective of the lecture was to make the students aware of the constitutional development in India. The keynote speaker was Dr. Jayshree Choudhary, Director of Udaan IAS Academy.
Dr. Jayshree shared in her address that the development of the Constitution in India has a long history which began with the transformation of the East India Company into a political institution after the Battle of Buxar in 1764. In addition to this, Dr. Jayshree explained in detail about the Regulating Act of 1773, Pitts India Act of 1784, Act of 1813, Charter Act of 1835, Act of 1858, Council Act of 1861, Morley Minto Act of 1909, Montague Chelmsford Reform Act of 1919 and Government of India Act of 1935 in the process of constitution making in India.
The Officiating Principal of the college, Dr. Archana Bhatia condemned the exploitative policies of the British rule. This lecture was organised by Ms.Kamlesh Saini, under the supervision of the head of the Arts Faculty, Dr. Shivani Tanwar and Dean of the Arts Faculty, Dr. Suniti Ahuja. On this occasion, Dr. Jitendra Dhul, Rekha Singh, Mamta Kumari, Shivani, Netra Pal Sen and other teachers along with about 100 students were present.
