Annual National Event IGNIDEA 2020 Organized D.A.V Centenary College

The Annual National Event IGNIDEA organized by the English Literary Society, the Environment Club, the Department of Economics and the Language Beats Club of DAV Centenary College, Faridabad, was held on Thursday, 5th March, 2020. As many as 19 teams from the colleges, institutes and universities of Haryana and Delhi took part in the Declamation and Quiz Contests organized on the occasion. Apart from the host college, the participating institutions were Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi, College of Vocational Studies, New Delhi, Shyam Lal College, Delhi University, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru Govt. PG College and Government Women’s College, Faridabad, Aggarwal College, Ballabhgarh, GGDSD College, Palwal, and Saraswati Kanya Mahavidyalya, Palwal.  The Chief Guest on the occasion was Engineer Siri Krishan Singhal, Former Deputy General Manager, Indian Oil, & a prominent social activist of this region. He was highly appreciative of the programme and gave very valuable suggestions to the audience regarding developing reading habits, caring and working proactively for the environment and being positive about life in general and the health of the Indian economy in particular. He also advised the gathering to take all due precautions to save themselves from the corona virus infection which is currently plaguing the whole world. Both the keen contests saw very intelligent and enthusiastic participation by both the participating teams and the well-informed audience. While most of the participants declaimed very well on the topics of declamation related to life and literature, the economy and the environment, the participants also gave a very good account of themselves in the Quiz Contest that had rounds on English Language and Literature, Economics, Environment, General Knowledge and Current Affairs. The Audio and Visual Rounds, the Buzzer Round and the Rapid Fire Round added a special thrill to the proceedings. At the end of the day, the First Prize in Quiz went to Pandit Jawahar Nehru Govt. College, Faridabad, the Second Prize to IGNOU, New Delhi, the Third Prize to Aggarwal College, Ballabgarh, and the Consolation Prize jointly to Shyam Lal College, Delhi University, and the College of Vocational Studies, New Delhi. In Declamation, the First Prize was bagged by Ms. Namrata from Saraswati Mahila Mahavidyalya, Palwal, the Second Prize by Ms. Sweety of DAV Centenary College, Faridabad, the Third Prize by Ms. Payal from Aggarwal College, Ballabhgarh, and the Consolation Prize by Ms. Vaishali from DAV Centenary College, Faridabad. While the worthy Principal Dr. Satish Ahuja, was the Patron of the Event, Mr. Arun Bhagat and Dr. (Ms.) Suniti Ahuja, Associate Professors, Department of English, were the Conveners and Dr. (Ms.) Savita Bhagat and Dr. D.P. Vaid, Associate Professors, Department of Economics, were the Co-Conveners. The Organizing Team and the students volunteers also worked hard and efficiently to make the Event a grand success. The audience gave an excellent account of them-selves and thoroughly enjoyed the programme.
