NSS Girls' and Boys' Wing

ABOUT NSS

The NSS was inaugurated in 1969, coinciding with the 100th birth anniversary of India's Father of the Nation, by the Indian Government. As a Central sector initiative under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India (GoI), it offers college students a chance to engage in diverse community service initiatives orchestrated by the government. The primary objective of NSS is to offer practical involvement to young individuals in contributing to society, aiming for its enhancement, equality, and progress.

NSS Seven Day Special Camp from 14th January 2023 to 20th January 2023

D.A.V. Seven day camp of National Service Scheme was inaugurated at Shatabdi Mahavidyalaya, Faridabad. The program was coordinated by Dr. Jitendra Dhull, PO (Boys Wing) and Miss Kavita Sharma, PO (Girls Wing). Dr. Naseeb Singh Gill, HOD, Department of Computer Science, MDU, Rohtak was the chief guest on the occasion. He inspired the volunteers to go ahead and do selfless service. The program started with Havan on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. NSS Girls Wing Head Neha Patel explained the purpose of NSS. After this, Dr. Jitendra Dhull, N.S.S. Briefly describe the activities of Acting Principal Dr. Savita Bhagat shared her thoughts on cashless and modern India and motivated the students for social work.

Blood Donation Camp on 21st September 2022

Blood donation camp was organized by GIFT (Globally Integrated Foundation for Thalassemia), Foundation Against Thalassemia, Rotary Club South Delhi, NSS Unit and YRC Unit at DAV Centenary College. It was inaugurated by Dr. Sunil Kumar Garg (Registrar, JC Bose University of Science and Technology). Acting Principal Dr. Savita Bhagat inspired everyone to contribute in the noble cause while increasing everyone's enthusiasm. Shri Madan Chawla Founder & President (GIFT), Ravindra Dudeja, Harish Ratra, JK Bhatia Member of (Foundation Against Thalassemia), Umakant Prasad (President), Dharmesh Mehta (Secretary) Rotary Club, Aarush Gera, JD Arora Member of (Sant Bhagat Charitable Trust), Jagbir, Budhan Member of (BK Hospital) made people aware through this camp.

Dr. Vijaywanti (Programme Officer Girls / YRC Counselor), Dr. Neeraj Singh (Programme Officer Students / YRC Counselor), Dr. Jitendra Dhul (Programme Officer Students / National Service Scheme), Miss Kavita Sharma (Programme Officer Girls / National Service Scheme) also participated. Boosted the morale of the students and motivated them for continuous blood donation for the children suffering from Thalassemia in the state. More than 150 students donated blood in this camp.

NATIONAL EDUCATION DAY on November 11th, 2019.

The Education Rally was organised at DAVCC under the National Service Scheme (NSS) on the occasion of National Education Day highlighting the importance of education and the nation’s commitment to all aspects of education. The awareness drive about the right to vote was successfully conducted near-by areas of NIT-3 under the guidance of the college Principal Dr. Satish Ahuja, Dr. JItender Dhull (Programme Officer Boys’ Unit),Ms. Anjali Manchanda (Programme Officer Girls’ Unit). The students actively participated in the campaign with great enthusiasm.


PRABHAT PHERIS-SPREADING AWARENESS AMONST THE MASS & PREVENTION OF CROP RESIDUE BURNING on November 6th, 2019

NSS Unit of DAVCC organised “Prabhat Pheris” at nearby villages. NSS Volunteers had taken out a rally and distribution of pamphlets to farmers. The main motto of the rally was to spread awareness amongst the farmers and prevention of Crop Residue burning which can cause air pollution.NSS volunteers took active participation on this occasion.

VOTER AWARENESS RALLY on October 18th, 2019.

The Voter Awareness Rally was organised at DAVCC under the National Service Scheme (NSS) to create the awareness about the right to vote among the youngsters ahead of Haryana Assembly Election that to be held on 21st Oct, 2019. The awareness drive about the right to vote was successfully conducted near-by areas of NIT-3 under the guidance of the college Principal Dr. Satish Ahuja, Dr. JItender Dhull (Programme Officer Boys’ Unit),Ms. Anjali Manchanda (Programme Officer Girls’ Unit). The students actively participated in the campaign. The volunteers motivated the people to vote and cast their vote righteously.

FIT INDIA PLOGGING on October 2nd, 2019

On the occasion of 150th birthday of Mahatma Ghandhi Ji NSS Unit organized a plogging programme outside college area. The aim of this event is to spread the trend of plogging which is basically a combination of our daily fitness routine of jogging or brisk walking with cleanliness habits (Swachhta & Swasth). Over 100 participants registered for the programme on the website fitindia.gov.in. NSS Volunteers took active participation for the same.

NSS DAY CELEBRATION on September 24th, 2019.

NSS Unit of MDU, Rohtak celebrated the 50th Golden Jubilee celebration on the occasion of NSS day by organizing a function, which was inaugurated by Prof. K.P Singh, Vice Chancellor, Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar. On this occasion Mehandi, Painting and Lecture competition on the theme of National Integration ,Water conservation etc was held in which NSS Volunteers from different colleges participated. NSS Unit of our college took active participation in all the activities. Chief Guest motivated the volunteers to be focused in their life. He urged them to be target oriented for utilizing the human potential which is the great strength of a Nation.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP September 19th,2019.

On the occasion of birthday of Honourable Prime Minister, DAVCC and District Red Cross Society organized a successful blood donation camp in the college premises. The camp was inaugurated by Sh. Krishan Pal Gujjar, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt of India. In this camp overwhelming no of NSS volunteers and college staff has participated with vivacity. Lion Club Foundation, Faridabad supported throughout the whole camp take place in college. Principal, NSS Programmer officers have given their positive support and help in organising the Blood donation camp.

A TALK ON LEGAL ADVICE ON CYBER CRIME AGAINST WOMEN on September 6th,2019.

D.A.V Centenary College organized a talk on Legal Advice on Cyber Crime against Women on 6th Sept, 2019. Member of Haryana Women Commission Ms. Renu Bhatia discussed on various types of cybercrimes that can be inflicted upon a women and how they adversely affected them and focussed upon the options available to the victims to cybercrime and the changes required in legal system to effectively curb the rising spirits of cyber criminals.NSS Unit volunteers took active participation on this event.

FIT INDIA MOVEMENT on August 29th,2019.

D.A.V Centenary College organized “Fit India Movement” launched by Hon’ble PM of India on 29th Aug, 2019 on the occasion of National Sports Day. The motto of this event was to inculcated physical activity/Sports activities. Fit India Movement is aimed at encouraging people to give priority to sports and fitness in their day-to-day lives. NSS Girls Unit took active participation in all the activities. The event had broadcast live on this occasion. .

TREE PLANTATION on August 28th,2019.

NSS Girls’ & Boys’ Unit of D.A.V Centenary College organized “Tree plantation” programme on 28.08.2019 in the college premises. Under the guidance of Principal, Dr. Satish Ahuja, Ms. Anjali Manchanda PO(Girls Unit),Mr. Jitender Dhull PO(Boys Unit),NSS volunteers planted more than 50 trees. The students also placed bricks as barricades and each student took the responsibility to nourish and maintain the allocated plants. Few plants were also distributed in Primary School, Rahul colony. The committee decided to proceed with the same inspiration, enthusiasm and zeal to enhance the beauty of college campus and outside areas..

EXTENSION LECTURE ON “BE EDUCATED ABOUT HIV” August 20th, 2019.

NSS Girls’ & Boys’ Unit of D.A.V Centenary College organized an extension lecture on topic “Be Educated About HIV” dated 20-8-2019. A team from B.K Hospital Counsellor Ms. Kavita, Ms. Preeti, Ms. Mukesh & Mr. Krishan Kumar were discussed about symptoms, transmission and precautions of HIV/AIDS.NSS volunteers took actively participation in all activities like open discussion. Poster-making competition was also organized on this occasion. Team from B.K Hospital distributed prizes for winners of Poster-making competition. Principal and Dr. Sheela Bhagat, Dy. Civil surgeon and other staff members are also presented on this occasion.

JAL SHAKTI ABHIYAN (JSA) on July 22nd, 2019.

NSS Girls’ & Boys’ Unit of D.A.V Centenary college organized an oath taking ceremony on JAL SHAKTI ABHIYAN (JSA). Approximately 25 girls and 35 boys participated in the activity which was focused on water-conservation. Dr. Jitender Dhull welcomed the students for the new session and motivated them to take active participation in Social welfare. JAL SHAKTI ABHIYAN (JSA) is aimed at making water conservation a ‘Jan Andolan’ through involving more and more people to it by making them aware of its value. A signature banner was displayed in college campus signed by worthy Principal, staff and students after taking pledge on water conservation.
